11/12* King Harald of Norway visits Orkney and Shetland Isles where his wife and daughters are deposited. His fleet swells to 300 longships

19 King Harald re-boards the ships and rides the tides to Riccall on the rivers Humber & Ouse
20 King Harald of Norway defeats the combined army of the northern earls at Fulford
21* Southern army sets out on horseback (10 hours x 8kph = 80 x 4 days = 320 km)
24 Sunday - King Harald parades Norse army and accepts the submission of York
     King Harold II arrives in York in the evening and takes steps to ensure that the presence of his army, resting at Tadcaster is not revealed
