To commemorate the battle in 2008 there were events for the young in the morning and a long walk in the afternoon (below)

The model was used so that young legs would not have to walk round the whole site. There was also a vat of woad - You can see some woad dripping after being dipped in the centre of the image. (more woad)

The walk takes about 1 1/2 hours (depending on the number of questions/debate) - we are lucky that in Fulford the whole of the site is accessible on public paths.

There is a site devoted to saving the battlesite: The site has the story of the process that has allowed the site to be designated an access road to a Green Field, flood-plane housing estate. Visiting Fulford        Map York

And another website for the Fulford Tapestry that tells the story of the September 1066: This tells the story embroidered into the panels.

There is a blog covering these sites where you can leave questions and make comments.
